What We Do
Simply Easier In STEM proposes to invite, encourage, and inspire more students to pursue STEM disciplines through a multi-faceted approach. The following activities will be undertaken to improve the likelihood of minority students selecting STEM majors in selected school districts with 35% or more minority enrollments in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbus, & Virgina; as well as, HBCU’s in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Pre-College
The company will work closely with a few selected school districts that have relatively high percentages (35% or more) of minority students, using hands-on activities, field trips, guest speakers, regional pre-college competitions, videos & other experiences.

The pre-college components of the program expose elementary, middle school and high school students, their parents, selected school district administrators and teachers to the world of STEM careers and opportunities by regularly scheduled STEM hands-on activities, STEM and HBCU’s field trips, and STEM guest speakers during the academic year. In those cases where needed, the program will increase the understanding and engagement of parents, school district teachers and administrators on the importance of minority students in STEM careers. In addition, the program will develop hands-on STEM curriculum materials for those pre-college grades where such materials do not already exist. This will develop young learners’ knowledge, skills and interest in STEM, while assisting parents, and school officials at the same time. Finally, the program makes cost effective use of all parties in addressing the minority STEM problems.
HBCU Summer Bridge & Undergraduate Degrees
The company will work closely with a few selected Mid-Atlantic region HBCU’s partners that offer strong STEM undergraduate majors. We will continue to provide wide exposure & hands-on STEM experiences.

The college components of the program exposes college freshmen and their parents to a very structured summer bridge program, and to HBCU college life, along with academic year pathways to a variety of STEM majors. These efforts attract students to pursue STEM undergraduate degrees, STEM advanced degrees, post-doctoral assignments or careers in STEM fields. The program encourages these choices by sponsoring STEM field trips, student summer and research internships at STEM organizations, visiting STEM guest speakers, participation in technical conferences and visits to graduate schools.
Advanced Degrees and STEM Careers
The company will work closely with a few selected Mid-Atlantic regional graduate & professional schools, as well as STEM organizations like, National Society of Black Engineers, National Society of Blacks Physicists and Naval STEM; commercial & industrial companies, to encourage STEM advanced degrees & careers.
Overall, the company provides ONR and other governmental organizations with a readily available broad range of applicants for augmenting existing and/or developing innovative solutions that directly maintain and/or cultivate a diverse, world-class STEM workforce to maintain the U.S. technological superiority. The goals of the proposed efforts will provide solutions that establish, build and/or maintain STEM educational pathways and workforce opportunities for diverse U.S. citizens directly relevant to science and technology areas. This is particularly true because this program will complement and cooperate with other east coast competitions like RoboSub, & SeaPerch, as well as, other programs like NSAP, JSHS, SEAP, NREIP, SMART, Horizons Essay and NDSEG, by providing minority participants.
